My current work is inspired by an exploration of reality and the different versions of reality we are now given in the modern world.
We are given so many versions of truth that it is difficult to separate what is real and what is illusion. Self identity, personal beliefs, lies and deceit and a search for a grounded view of life drive my ideas. I use nature, figurative reference, dreams, symbology and emotions to inform my subject matter. My work comes as a reaction to visiting locations, meeting people and current affairs. It also includes myths, legends and fairy tales and how these can be related to today’s living.

In my work, I focus on colour, composition and narrative.
I want the viewer to have a response to the work. To me, that response is immaterial, I understand that not everyone will like it.

My Background
I have been an artist, potter and teacher all my life but I have always felt a desire to create, to express my views and regulate my brain.
I started selling paintings at 11 years old and won national competitions as a teenager. I competed my A level art at night school whilst doing my GCSEs and went on to do foundation diploma art at Manc
I have been an artist, potter and teacher all my life but I have always felt a desire to create, to express my views and regulate my brain.
I started selling paintings at 11 years old and won national competitions as a teenager. I competed my A level art at night school whilst doing my GCSEs and went on to do foundation diploma art at Manchester Polytechnic. I gained BA hons in 3D Design at Manchester Metropolitan University. I went on to do PGCE in secondary art and after teaching for a few years I owned my own pottery activity centre and gallery for 10 years working collaboratively with schools, businesses and organisations producing installations, awards and education programs.
Now I am concentrating on my painting work.
